The following is a link to a chapter from Mr. Dickens' Pickwick Papers, which, by the way, has a number of chapters set at Christmas, this one is a short story, which if you look at and read, very carefully, you'll notice something familiar about it.The Goblins Who Stole A Sexton, or rather, it's theme, was later expanded, by Dickens, into A Christmas Carol.

Before we peruse Mr James' ghostly observations, let us take a small side journey, to the village of Lark Rise, in North-East Oxfordshire.Fora Thompson wrote a wonderful trilogy, collectively entitled Lark Rise to Candleford. The following is the chapter entitled, A Village Christmas.
